The National Certificate for Personal License Holders (NCPLH) is a nationally recognized Level 2 qualification designed to provide the knowledge and information required by anyone wishing to apply to their local authority for a Personal License. The qualification is needed to apply for a Personal Licence to sell alcohol and advance your career prospects within the licensed retail sector in England and Wales. The one day course is designed for managers and supervisory staff working in licensed premises where they are selling or authorizing the sale of alcohol.

Course Content

The training course will provide each candidate with a clear understanding of the framework of law and regulation that underlines the responsibilities of the personal licence holder. This will include:

  • Licensing Act 2003
  • Licensing authorities
  • Operating schedules
  • Personal and Premises licences
  • Unauthorised licensable activities
  • Police powers and rights of entry
  • Permitted temporary activities/ Temporary Event Notice
  • Legal and social responsibilities of the personal licence holder
  • Illegal drugs, the effects of alcohol and disorderly conduct
  • Protection of children
  • Conduct of Licensed Premises

On successfully completing the National Certificate for Personal License Holders and passing the associated examination, candidates will receive a certificate from the Education Development International (EDI).
